He makes it look so smooth and easy and if you try this routine you'll see how difficult it really is. His motions are very fluid and exact, great comedic timing. WC.Fields was,is and always will be a legend in the field of comedy.

You can watch the original clip on here, just search for WC Fields - Honest John

HAHAHAHAAHAHA. I love this clip. The whole time the guy is standing there seriously while he seems to have the weirdest problems with taking a shot. Which is funny but the real funny part is at the end when he's aiming straight into the table and still, slowly, telling his story about the glass eye as he puts a hole into the table. It's so funny I'm tearing.

Fields, you were SUCH a wonderful man.
-
@peppersax absolutely right, some moron spoiled the clip with taped laughter.
-
Love the sketch, but it's much better without the laugh track. I don't need an audience to cue me when to laugh.
-
@davidwrightatloppers Really! It sure sounds like a 'canned' track. Anyway, WC was a GENIUS!

Field died in 1946 and this clip shows him MUCH younger.... besides, the "laughter" is in STEREO.
Sorry.
What idiot decided to put a FUC**** laugh track in? What a moron. W C Fields didn't need any.

@peppersax - I acquired this from a TV show, thus the laughter was unavoidable. However, on re-thinking it, it's not a bad thing. I mean, when originally shown in a CINEMA, there would have been laughter. Without the laughter, it would be STERILE. At least this laughter is GENUINE - not canned - demonstrating that decades on, Fields is STILL FUNNY.

love the sequence. hate the canned laughter. where did that come from?

@tvelliot - Sadly, the clip was shown as part of a TV programme - the laughter was REAL - but as a stand-alone clip, I agree it's invasive. But there was no way to lose it and since the clip is great, I decided to post it anyway. Better the unneeded laughter than no clip at all!

@iamaweasel - ah, the great Jacques! Yes, I agree! When I come upon the Fields movie that was shot on a veranda of a rooming house (the name of which escapes me) - I'll try putting that up too. And when I do, I'll link it to this - and try and alert you!
