Originally broadcast on Irish TV station RTÉ, this documentary examines the sceptical challenges to climate change, public confusion around the issue and the science behind this heated public debate. Duncan Stewart interviews various climatologists, scientists, economists, media analysts and leading public figures to try and get to the truth of the matter.

Part 1 of 4: This video establishes public confusion around climate change and addresses the issues of natural variability in climate throughout the Earth's history, the relative size of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere & confusing global warming with the ozone layer.

  • I commend Canada for dropping out of the Kyoto agreement, but it missed the chance to denounce the whole global warming hypothesis as the lie that is has always been. These conferences are puzzling to me. A lot of talk about a bunch of lies, and we are going to do this and that.

  • @UnknownOconnor What Canada did was disgraceful in pulling out of Kyoto. They've endangered generations of the world's people just so they can keep drilling for oil in tar-sands (Hmm, going after such difficult oil to extract doesn't suggest oil is running out, right?).

But I suppose if you are the kind of guy who actually thinks hundreds of thousands of scientists have all been somehow sworn into perpetual silence, I guess grown-up conferences are going to be confusing for you. Regards, JV

  • @JVbin Go ahead and be an eco-freko.

You clearly want to believe something else.

  • @UnknownOconnor Go ahead and be a delusional conspiracy theorist hypocrite. You clearly want to be believe in preposterous bullshit. Regards, JV

  • @thewindthatshakesbar That is exactly what they WANT you to believe. :-D

    You better ask the scientists...

  • @rapartist43 Yes it's the sun, but it gets worst because our pollution creates holes in the ozone so we get more UVs from the sun, getting our atmosphere to warm up faster and changing everything....

  • @rapartist43 The words "pot kettle black" could not be typed enough times to adequately describe this situation. But you use capital letters so much, maybe you are right. Regards, JV

  • @JVbin BTW: insulting ppl does NOT serve your cause. It just shows your desperation and a true lack of arguments.

  • @JVbin I agree. Talking to ignorants isn't gonna change shit. Anyway, go eat the BS the media is feeding you. You will NOT find a single politically NEUTRAL scientist that agrees to that nonsense. The climate change is NOT man made but a constant phenomenon. I don't care what ppl "Way more qualified" take into consideration or not. They are bought.

  • I personally don't doubt there is a climate change, but is a constant phenomenon. You won't find a reference to snow in medieval Britain for instance because it was hotter back then. Humans don't have any influence on the climate - it's the sun. Climate change is a whole new economic market with companies selling certificates and such. It is indeed a lie.
