when i bought mine it did not come with a battery i had one. i can't really tell u if they are durable because i sold mine a month after i got it i did not like it. u have to buy a link kit to change the esc to use nimh. it was fast with nimh i can't give a speed because i would be just guessing. if i was u i would not buy. my rear always locked up on me for some reason and i would take it home and take it apart and nothing is wrong with and i put it back together and it would worked fine
