I remember when this station was on the air. It made for great watching on rainy days in the summer or the days when it was too cold to go outside. I grew up in Central MN before the days of DirectTV/Dish Network and we couldn't afford a dish of any type. Too bad it takes having cable or a dish to find the type of programming they offered.
I worked at TV Heaven 41 as a maintenance engineer when that commercial was made. I remember the edit bay Hugh Chroma was standing in front of. I can't remember his name though. But the voice during the MVN part of the promo is John Fine. He produced most of the locally produced station promos. He was very creative. He did a good job with the brand new Sony BVH-3100 1 inch machine edit bay we had. 41 was above TCF Bank. We expanded next door and took up the top floor of 2 buildings.
I recognize the guy in this promo (No, Hugh Chroma is NOT his name), but I cannot place his name. Anyone who is from the St. Cloud Area who may know, who is this strange blonde-haired dude?
And for note, I used to work next door to the TV Heaven 41 studios before they 41 got sold to Paxson. It was, basically, a broom closet. But, so many memories came from channel 41. It was...awesome.
I used to work at KXLI from 91 to 97. I missed they hey day of the 80's but I remember watching all this stuff when I was a kid. When I worked their they started backup up as an affiliate for HSN and then they had some religious programming on Sundays.
I worked in a big garage like facility underneath the tower.
Can you imagine any TV station in today's corporate-dominated marketplace doing something like that? That's among the many reasons why I miss the old Channel 41.
I also fondly remember KXLI (see my video response, above). I remember rushing home from work on weeknights so I could watch The Avengers at 10:30pm, followed by Rocky and his Friends at 11:30 until midnight when the station signed off. I heard that the animated series was broadcast at that late hour because the station owner wanted to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle before going to bed.

Notice in that Get Smart promo, all the "item numbers" are made up of 41 and/or 47. 47 was their satellite station in Rochester.

I remember that one. It was from their "K41" days, before TV Heaven.

If anyone has a video of their afternoon movie promo with the airplane, please post it...

Ugh, now it's an ION affiliate which plays infomercials all day, except for like... three hours of 80s sitcoms.
Too bad I was too young to appreciate this. Though KSTC is on the same order...
