This is a new camera we are using for the first time that shoots in 720. I think I was a little close so the scratch was not really definded however, it was pretty deep.

Shawn is removing deep scratches during a class on wetsanding techniques and refinishing paint.

Here, he is using 2000 grit to perform the sanding phase since this is most comfortable to use.

Next Shawn will use a polishing compound (Diamond Cut #85) on to the area sanded to start the refinishing stage. I like to use Lake Country four inch spot pads on smaller areas since you dont need anything bigger than this. This is an orange pad we are using designed for compounding. Shawns wheel is also operating at 1800rpm.

After the compounding phase, Shawn will change gears a little bit and swap the orange pad out for a white polishing pad. The polish being applied is an Ardex product called Stereo Glaze #2. Shawn will also do two things here, he will slow the speed of the wheel down to 1000rpm and also slow his own motion down to allow the polish to effectively work into the clear coat.

Once this stage is done, we will apply the clear coat sealer. This is a sealer that Dupont manufactures. Shawn at this point will swap pads once more going to a gold finishing pad to obtain that concourse finish. Nothing changes and the wheel stays at 1000rpm.

The end results is a process that turned out better than bodyshop quality.

This took rigourous training that Shawn under went to get this perfected but I can asure everyone out there reading this that after the two week Detailing Academy that Shawn is just as capable and confident doing this as I am.

This was an exciting two weeks here in sunny Florida from basic detailing to advance detailing. Working on everyday day cars to working on race cars.

My detailing academy is very intense but at the same time, its an adventure not soon to be forgotten about and a thrill of a lifetime to experience.

A big thanks to Rienharts Engineering and to the high performance team in allowing the class to take part of how we custom tune race cars to a real time burnout that you all instructed and allowed Shawn to perform for his Youtube page.

Two Thumbs up for Shawn.

I also want to encourage everyone to visit Shawns Youtube page and see some of his work. Subcribe to Shawn and becomes friends. He's a great young man.
