1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, bad or leaking water pump on a 2002 GMC Yukon with a 5.3L V8 engine. This water pump fits many GM vehicles but the application is similar for 1999-2004 GMC and Chevrolet full size trucks and SUVs such as Yukon, Tahoe, Sierra, and Silverado.

Question- For a few days I saw what I thought was a large puddle of oil under my 2003 Tahoe when I left. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed a new water pump. After I took it in it didn't leak anymore leading me to think it was just a loose bolt. If my water pump was no good wouldn't I hear something or the vehicle temp be high? I will buy a new water pump from you after seeing your video but wanted to make sure the clown at the dealer wasn't making this up? Thanks so much!

@BloodandSoil1 Usually when your waterpump goes bad it leaks anti-freeze from a small weep hole near the front of the pump.

@1aauto. For an old skool 1985 GMC c1500 305/5.0H, removal of the fan from pump: i need to rent the special fan clutch tool from AZ or can i tap the wrench on like this video? I assume my clutch turns 1-way while holding the nut

@ballershanelle It may have four small bolts that hold it on. If it does not, and has one nut in the center as shown in the video, than you should be able to use it using the same method. Hope this helps you out.
