2. ..fretts - i chose fenders 1.25 mil- and it worked ! i can now get all the brightness and attack out of my GUILD that i was missing all those years! SO i'd like to ask, is your guitar fitted with the original low fretts that most guilds are fitted with, or you had them changed too? or maybe is because yours is a maple back and sides guitar instead of indian rosewood like mine ?
but i 'd like to ask, if i may, i have a JF55 GUILD which i bought new back in 1996. it was loud and boomy, which was something i liked, but i had difficulty in getting this bright sound that you get out of this guitar. a couple of months ago i deceided that this lack of brightness was due to the very low fretts that it was fitted with, -only 0.75 of a milimetre in height- so i deceided to have them relpaced by much higher
Don't ya just love the sound!!! I've had a Guild 6 and 12 string since 1970 - and the sound keeps getting better!! My 6 string has the sunburst finish - my 12 string is a blonde-on-blonde!!
Too bad that Guild was STUPID - and dropped John Denver, who played ONLY Guild for a long time - then Taylor and finally Yamaha!! About 4 years after dropping John Denver Guild was bought by Fender!!
Boys, you dance with the girl that brought you to the dance.

Well they say that your love is like a flower. Good job. Try playing the 8th notes more straight like Tony.
