I hear ya! After 30 years, fame, fortune etc. the sadness comes across like a freight train. This song still makes me cry...Broken hearts mend but the scar tissue remains. I had the exact same thought about 5:04-5:10. Mark still feels the pain...

Mark is singing with a broken heart, and you can't fake that. Look at him at 3:00 in the third verse, and the look he gives after "how 'bout it" at 5:04.....he can barely get the word out. Amazing.....
