@Exilemainstreet i read it in the book "ain't no mexican: the denny dias story", which was never published A) because of it's blatant racism and B) because denny, being a swamp-dweller from the deep south, is barely literate, and the text is almost unintelligable. it's been mostly passed down through oral tradition (as is common in the south). of course denny blames "the jews", and fagen and becker in particular for keeping "the truth" from the public. i know denny's cousin tom so i heard it all

while royce jones was touring with steely he was often the target of lynch threats from both denny and skunk, for the obvious reason of his race. the inclusion of a black man on tour had a lot to do with the eventual departures of both denny and skunk
