Funny that you might ask... I recently did some research and the ankle-breaking scene of the movie "Misery" is actually an ancient tactic of Zen Buddhism to prepare one for meditation; however, the traditional way is also performed on the knees as well as the upper-thigh bone.
Using this method, I was able to sit in said position and gain enlightenment.
And a wheelchair.
good luck!

I'll give it a go.... it's not like I've got anything to lose.
What's the best way of breaking the legs? What method do you suggest? I need enlightenment, Pronto!

You should try my way...
It's VERY effective
pretty rough at first, but it's TOTALLY worth it in the long-run. :D

see, thats where I go wrong. I just let them "snap" on the way down.

you break your legs FIRST, THEN you can sit like that... not during, silly :)
