  • what have you done to fix it? installed new heads??

  • @seppipimp If it is under warranty, you should get Ford to replace the heads. I had inserts put in the spark plug hole by mechanics (I do not know the brand of inserts they used) and when I sold it I disclosed this to the buyer.

  • My transmission on my Ford Ranger went out at 85,000 miles and I did not rag it at all.

  • @binayt Ford announced today they will stop producing the Ford Ranger.

  • hey what i found actually is the reason 4 this is to be not tightening them enough they get loose and back out till they only grab a few threads and then they blow out ........ if u would had checked them all when the first blew u would have found a few that weren't tight ... ive seen this over and over ......... 3 valves r a diff story all together, he he they wont come out when u want them out!!!!!

  • @91mustangmike: I think you are correct. I think my problem was a combination of using Bosch spark plugs, the aluminum heads not having enough threads and this prevented them from tightening enough. I realize since I installed the plugs that I cannot get any money, I just want Ford to be held accountable if they had a bad design. If someone can prove it was not Ford's fault, I will be neutralized :).

  • Man the same thing happened to my 99 Cobra. The previous owner of the car over tightend the spark plugs and the result of it was an "exhaust leak" sound. I didn't know this till the spark plug blew up in the motor and melted the coil. I helicoiled it and it fixed it but the explosion of the spark messed up my cylinder head. :( So I'm getting a replacement motor for the Snake! :D

  • @joshmarauder you have to get a new sleeve for the spark plug i believe timesert sells the cheapest, or buy new heads. either way its not cheap

  • @binayt ford is still having serious problems with these.. its not because they are getting loose. its because of VERY poor casting. they "attempted" to fix it, and looking at the new heads, it looks exactly the same, but now the plugs seize inside the head when trying to replace them, and then they still blow out. it seems to be worse on the trucks though... its pretty common in the trucks for them to blow in the first 10k miles...

  • my mustang gt is doing the same exact noise...how do i fix it

  • Damn that sucks, and on such a nice engine..

  • I dont let any ford tech touch my truck.. They dont know shit.. they always fuck it up .. I work on my own vehicles.. I do everything myself.. I dont trust anyone. And i dont care of your the best tech in the world. you still aint touching my vehicle.

    I understand what u saying..

  • @LightningMAS if you modified the truck/car, Ford has the right to deny the warranty claim. Same goes for if ou do the work to the vehicle, because it was not carried out by a Ford certified tech
