Paul: There we go. The harness is on. Sara, loosen your grip a little so he can ease away from the cliff wall and get back up there.... oh... uh... damn.
**End POV**
**Joe's POV**
Sara loosened her death grip on my arm and the blood flooded back to my fingers. It felt weird, but I was thankful Sara had that death grip. I probably would have fallen otherwise.
Abby: JOEY!
She ran back over and nearly threw herself OFF the cliff AT me! "GET AWAY FROM ME! THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!" I screamed at her.
Abby: No Joey! Don't say that!
She reached for me and lost her footing. Despite my hatred for her, I lunged to grab her hand as she fell past me. I missed.
Abby: *screams*
Aly: Oh my god
Sara: J-Joe?
I climbed up the cliff and Sara threw her arms around me. I hugged her tightly as I glanced around at the others. Aly was in total shock. Nick was trying to pull her away from the cliff. Kat was shaking and Kevin put himself in front of her to hide the cliff edge from her. Shannon had her mouth open in a silent scream. Cody put his hand under her chin and closed it for her before hugging her close. Bridgitte walked over to stand next to me and Sara to look down. Rachel was helping the other guy, Paul I think his name was, back up.
Sara: J-Joe... shouldn't we call someone?
I nodded and looked around at the group.
Rachel: Here.. I've got a phone.
She pulled it out and dialed. After talking for a minute, she hung up and told us they were sending people over. "Should we stay here?"
Rachel: You don't have to. You can take Sara and everyone back to the cabins. Paul and I will call if we need a ride.
"Thanks" I stood up and started leading Sara to the car. I noticed Kevin, Nick and Cody doing the same thing. We drove back to the cabins in silence. We were all too shocked about what had just happened.
News reporter: And in other news, a young girl visiting friends at their mountain house for a weekend of fun and activities fell off a cliff side in a terrible accident and died on impact with the water. The doctors believe she felt little or no pain.
He started on a lecture of safety for trips to mountains and I turned the TV off.
Sara: I don't know what to feel about this.
I put my arm around her. We were at my house again. It's Sunday night, we all came home this afternoon from the mountains. "Me neither"
Sara: I mean... I shouldn't be happy that she died.... but she won't be here to try to steal you anymore.
"Or hurt you"
Sara: Or you.
I kissed her cheek and she put her head on my shoulder. "You're tired"
Sara: *yawns* I should probably start walking back now....
"You sure you want to go home?" I asked, wondering if she would be able to walk all the way back without falling asleep. Sure, she only lives one block away... but she was so tired.
Sara: *smiles* I'll be fine Joe. Promise
"I could walk you back" I offered, returning her smile
Sara: That would be wonderful.
I helped her to her feet and took her hand. "C'mon you"
Sara: *stumbles* That table wasn't there before!
I just chuckled and opened the door for her. As soon as I closed the door, I turned and picked her up.
Sara: Joe!
I kissed the top of her head. "Unless you want me to put you down..." I started to put her down, but her arms tightened around my neck. "That's what I thought"
Sara: I don't know what I would do without you Joe
"You'll never have to find out, love. Never" I promised her as she started to doze off in my arms. I got her to her house and gave her to her sister.
