It's called the Surface Protocol where at the end of the dive he has to maintain his own airway above the water for 30 seconds without other assistance to have it as a valid attempt. So everyone is quiet simply because they're waiting for the time to elapse.
Having some verbal reminders like people telling you to breath is very helpful at the end of such a long dive.
Remember not to try this without proper training and/or having a buddy along with you at all times.
