I'm currently finishing up my second novel entitled "Blue Car Racer", a coming-of-age suspense tale about a young boy who finally decides to move on from his father's death and grow up to face the harsh realities of the world. I'll be self-publishing it on Kindle within the next month or so when I get all the editing and kinks worked out of it.

My first novel, "The Orphaned Ones" is a vampire thriller/suspense story about a group of orphaned boys who are transformed and embark on an adventure set in the chaos of World War 2. I'm currently attempting to find a literary agent to represent it.

  • That makes sense but if you go the independent publishing route, it seems as though you will have to do double duty when promoting. I could be wrong though.

  • @steelhorseclub It's true, because publishing companies are the ones who usually take care of all your promotion. Self-published authors are exactly that, SELF-published. You have to take care of everything yourself, so you end up at the end of the day doing more work than you would if you get traditionally published...however, the benefit is that you get to keep more of the profits. So self-published authors have the ability to make more per book depending on how much work you put into it all.

  • Why do you use two different names? Won't that confuse your readership? Anyway, I am following your blog and am interested in what you manage in the future.

  • @steelhorseclub

I'm not entirely sure and I might change my decision. My logic for it was that my vampire series I'm working on is a more adult work, or at least that's how I envisioned it. There's blood, guts, gore, and more swearing.

I was thinking of using a pen name to distinguish between my young adult works and my more mature stuff. Also, I write poetry, so that factored into it as well. I've been considering just using my real name for everything lately. It's a tough decision I guess.
