  • I hope Psystar lose , they should do. No company should be forced to cheapen their product. Can you imagine Rolls Royce being taken to court and forced to produce or licence their name and iconic brand so that Daewoo could sell a "Rolls Royce" for £6k ???? If you want OS X , you buy a Mac. You want Vista , you buy a Dell etc You wanna play PS3 games , you buy a PS3 , Xbox360 , you buy an xbox. You dont start taking Sony to court because you cant play Halo3 on its hardware.

  • You are exactly right. If you put OS X on every computer out there it would become Windows and suck.

If you want OS X get a Mac, its that simple and if you can't for what ever reason, tough shit.

I hope Apple kills Psystar in court and makes an example out of them.

  • I don't think Apple should license OS X. However, I am happy with what apple are doing and that is not doing anything about people building their own hackintoshes for their own use. These hackintoshes work very very well almost as well as my Mac Mini, However, You need to be a huge geek to get these to work in most cases. I have had three hackintoshes and now have a Mac Mini 2011 i5. To be honest, my next computer will likely be a hackintosh but most people wont have the ability to do this...

  • The best solution would be to have two versions of the OS. Windows has nearly ninety percent of the market share and look at all their versions of each OS. A little fragmentation would do Apple some good.

  • I guess people here do not understand much about law here. Mac computer and Mac OS are completely different things. In some european countries it is illegal forcing something to install a software ONLY in a sort of hardware. So even if the EULA says you can't do it, it is worthless in some countries, because Mac would be forcing you to buy a Mac as well. And it goes to any other platform. So, if you find out a way to play a PS3 original game on Xbox, that's your right!

  • I've heard of these clone machines, I personally think that Apple is perhaps being a little bit tight by only allowing people to run Mac OS on Apple hardware, but at the same time look at how many compatiblity issues with have with Windows because of the thousands and thousands of different hardware devices out there, whereas Apple designs their own hardware, therefore the compativilities are not as much of a problem compared to Windows.

  • I 100% agree there is no way that this is just a small company, dell has already started copying the mac mini with the zino every computer company wishes they could have the stability of the mac, but if every computer had it it would start being more and more like vista with all of the virus's

  • that's very sad but not apple specific.

the same thing happened when my 4 year old compaq laptop died.

they said they would have to replace the motherboard wich would cosr about €400 so they recommended me to get a new one instead.

  • well I think per definition because Mac OSX is a creation of Apple, apple has the full right whatever to do with it.

if they want it o run purely on mac hardware it's their own decision. not psystar's.

but yeah I agree on the conspiracy thing. a true small starting company that just went backrupt would never have the resources to build netbooks unless they were funded by a company like dell or hp.

  • It may be unfair that windows can run on mac but not the other way around but there A VERY slim chance that apple would lose. Psystar violated apple's end-user licensing agreement for it's operating system which clearly claims that the OS is not be running on anything but an apple branded computer.

The psystar computers are amazingly cheap for a OS X but i personally would rather trusting apple putting my hardware together.

  • I think Psystar has a 85% chance of winning this trial. Why i think this is because if macs have the right to run windows and mac os pcs should too, also the right to do what ever you want with what you buy with (except reproducing it and selling it). I always wanted mac os but i don't want a macbook pro 13" because it would be too small and i only have 1500 and the cheapest 15" is 1700 which is crazy so its a bit unfair. but you are right about the mass use and problems.

  • A Trojan isn't a true virus and requires social engineering. The best security system is not going to prevent some idiot from doing something stupid.
