Kit gloves- Mozart and Kiri go hand in hand. Beautiful legato, voice, vibrato and interpretation. Her Mozart and in fact anything she sings is so clean. And although Schwarzkopf and Fleming may offer more insight and idiosyncratic mannerisms which distracts- I always feel that Mozart should never be over done unlike Puccini.
@operaspark: As a fellow admirer, I have had an experience with Kiri Te Kanawa. It lasted only 5 seconds -a "brief encounter" indeed- but the story around it that I would like to tell you about, is rather long. As your comment on this post dates from 2 years ago, I wonder if you will be advised about this one.
It would be preferable to send the writings to you by e-mail, so if you are interested, I will gladly reply to your message addressed to federico1931@yahoo.com.ar
Oh, how I love Kiri in Mozart's music! Few could equal or even get near her level of perfection in this music, only Schwarzkopf comes to mind for me. Her timbre is so beautiful here, so fitting. Bravo!

Perfection. Kiri Te Kanawa is the queen of Mozart repertoire. This aria becomes so fragile and beautiful.
