Augmented Reality using Kinect

Small demo of markerless Augmented Reality, using Kinect for head / hands position tracking.

Retro wide FOV head mounted display (Liquid Image MRG 2.2) coupled with web-camera (Logitech Webcam Pro 9000) and orientation sensor (Hillcrest Labs Freespace) were used as AR HMD.

Software-side use VRPN, FAAST and Quest3D engine.

Did you upgrade the optics in the MRG? If so, how?

@fireslayer26 I think optics in the MRG is the very best it have, it gives you almost 120 degree diagonal FOV (100 X 60). Why you need to upgrade it? Or do you mean upgrade of LCD panel, to get bigger resolution? If so - no, I didn't upgraded it, for many experiments it was ok enough for me.

Some guys did upgrades on MRG2.2, take a search on mtbs.com

Hi Ali!

It's not the software, it's hardware issue, could be eliminated with using different 3DOF head-tracker with magnetic correction. We are not planning to sell vr/ar solution yet, because it highly depends on used hardware.

Looks promising. I hope you fix the tracking issue soon. I will buy a full vr solution if there is any.
