I'm going to college soon, i'm 17 and my mom is the only person working in my family, she spends alot of money to my other older siblings for college and she is losing money slowly, I don't think i'll be able to be financially supported by my mother when I go to college and I also can't find a job. I need help:((

Good for you but if people are thinking about getting an extra card, debit or credit, for their 18/19 year old, be very certain that they can handle that responsibility. My friend had tons of overdrafts & piles of CC bills after she extended a debit & CC to her son. Her credit was shot to hell. BTW, making timely rent & utility payments will be considered when building credit.

@thecrkao Better her credit being shot to hell than her son's in the future in my opinion. Had she left him alone until he was 30 years old, he most likely would have made the same mistake but who would be there to help him? That story would inevitably end in bankruptcy as with millions of other people who never learned when they were younger.

@xSteph822 Get a secured credit card. That means you give the bank $1000 for example. They will hold on to that money and give you a credit card with a limit of $1000. NEVER be late on it and eventually they'll increase your limit past $1000. You can do 100 dollars, 200 dollars, whatever.
