  • New Yorkers wasn't raised to be Bloods and Crips. If anything Gods and Earths. Each one Teach One, and Building. 2010-11 New York Disgusts me right now.

Remember that movie "Escape from New York"? It's coming to that.

  • haha everyone was trying to argue with melle mel and he shot down their arguments in like 2 seconds.

  • They respect a nigga coming out of jail but you don't respect somebody coming out of college- real talk!

Back in the day we had BDP, PE, PRT, Kane, XClan, KoolGRap, DeLaSoul, BrandNubian, Paris, ATCQ, Rakim, IceCube, Gangstarr, Scarface, KoolMoeDee and so forth more cognitive hiphop than this corporate sponsored dumb downed hippop- rapping for the charts instead of the art!

Media ='s Medium ='s Hypnotizing Minds

Hollyweird & the music industry spread that gang ish nationwide to be emulated.

  • REAL-ASS TALK!!!!!Melle Mel is speaking the truth!!!!!!!

  • Mele Mel, that was some real talk bro. Word!

  • Mel's constantly droppin' jewels!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whooops!!!!!!!! time to learn the truth!

  • I must admit he does have some valid points, but some things he didnt touch on the right way. The last group of great rappers came out in the 90's. Just about every rapper then was a beast. Whats this about the females rappers being butch-like. I thought he woud give props to Salt N Pepa at least. The problem today is too many people are allowed to be rappers. Anybody can do it. All they rappin about is sex, drugs, and money. Theres no substance, nothing for us to reflect on. so much can b said

  • All the respect to Mel, I grew up on his music, but I disagree. Yeah, there's been a lot of bullshit coming from NYC, same as everywhere else, but there's also been Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Wu-Tang Clan (and associated solo projects), KRS & Rakim are still goin, Canibus, Papoose. The original spirit of hip-hop is still alive in NYC.

  • this is so true. RZA said in an interview that his beats when he started the Wu were based on what was comin out of the west. then bam eastcoast rappers faded away or became more negative and gangsta-ish. its time to be conscious about what we're tellin the youth

  • Bless up Mel

  • rap hasnt stopped after rakim... i agree with mel about the gang shit and how every1 trys to copy but mobb deep and nas were hard gangstaz when they were young so they aint emulating anyfing there just telling there story and my opinion is that artists like mos def and talib kweli are bringing back hip hops original culture
