BBRENTTAGHAPP: Wer ist Heifetz? Ein hohler Schnellspieler! Kogan ist der beste Interpret aller Zeiten! Du Nuss! Setzen.

the soviet heifetz? haha

Perfect. Which cadenza that Kogan was playing?
-
There is a raw immediancy that is breathtaking. This cadenza, thunderously bold and wickedly difficult is a nice anodyne to the occassional oversweetness sometimes heard

his left hand is extraterrestial!!

especially the first 4 chords. have i ever heard anything so ugly? no.

@NestorAudinotviolins Yes, I totally agree (and have for a long long time). Kogan was truly and absolutely amazing. I think both he and Heifetz set new standards for violin playing.

While watching this video, I could feel the gates of heaven and hell open.

Nathan Milstein and Heifetz were fantastic violin players!
On the other hand, Leonid Kogan and David Oistrakh were truly "Divine"!
Menuhin also belong with these two Giants. And with a longer lifespan, I think Ginette Neveu would also be among them.

@muslit язык за зубами держи!!!
I believe he is the greatest violinist I have ever heard. As I've evaluated so many it's my opinion that even though Kogan did not record as many pieces as say Heifetz the quality of some have never and might never be approached. His Paganini could easily stand as his greatest performances. The confidence he displays in playing and the humble character he seems to have away from his instrument shows he is truly a unique and beautiful man.

Kogan is the only name I would ever dare mention in the same sentence as Heifetz.
