Rescued today. Feral mother. Kittens were filthy and flea ridden and one has an eye infection I'm treating with meds. Now clean and flea-free, they are loving the indoor life. (they're skin has yet to heal from the fleas). They love to have their bellies rubbed. Their names are Splotch (female) and Squirt (male). Squirt loves to rub against your face and moreso when you talk to him. Splotch like to find a little corner and sleep. They both started to play with us and follow us around the house. They can be loud, LOL! It was 1 am when I recorded this, so you'll have to excuse my face, LOL!

  • We still have them. They are about 4 months old now and are getting fixed in 2 weeks. The bi-colored one, Splotch, talks SOOOOOOO much! Squirt, the white one, is such a snuggler and sweetie. They play very well with our 1 year old "kitten" and he grooms them.

  • I think what we are using is clometrazine (sp?) on both humans and animals. Vet says that is OK to use that inbetween the baths. I hope you weren't snugging the kitten under your chin like I was! I look like my neck/chin/chest area has a hoirrible outbreak of acne! Good luck!

  • It can live for YEARS in soil too. Lime and sulfur kills it. Animals can be dipped in a lime-sulfur dip, but my vet says they don't do that, because he said it will truly make you want to vomit is smells so bad of rotten eggs. But the good news he said is that once you've had it, you're pretty much immune to a re-infection. He hasn't had it n 11 years, and he handles pets with it all the time. It is very common. There are all kinds of home remedies too, but OTC athlete's foot meds are fine.

  • You NEED to treat the dog AND the cat. The incubation period is 10-14 days, so you wouldn't know until about 2 weeks AFTER becoming infected. You have to treat the animals for 2-4 weeks. Look out for little itchy bumps that turn flakey. They will get bigger and turn into ugly, oozing welts that will itch like MAD. Wash your pet's bedding in bleach and/or VERY hot water daily, plus anything they lay on. Sweep and then mop the hard floors with bleach. Steam clean carpets and furniture.

  • Thanks for the video. I recently rescued one. She was a sneaky little thing. It took Three days to get her! She was so cute. She had black with white boots and white chin. We gave her to a good family my dad works with. Hopefully I will get to visit her soon.

  • Unfortunately, these kittens gave us the highly contagious fungas "ringworm" (same as athlete's foot; no "worm" at all) that everyone (3 kids and I), except hubby, broke out in little itchy, rashy spots where the littens were (yes, all over my neck, chest and arms) a week ago. We are all being treated now (have to bathe the kittens twice a week with a bottle of $20 medicated shampoo the vet gave us). It is awful but I want to make them healthy too. This is what I get for helping, LOL!

  • you give them a bit of care and they give you happyness!!! you are theur mom:D thank you!

  • Looks like they saw you as 'mommy' straight away! :)

  • My girl, 'Dusty' came to me after hurricane Floyd went past us here in South Florida. She found me at work the day after the 'almost' storm. She was (the vet guessed) maybe 6 weeks old, covered in fleas and dust (hence her name). I scooped her up and she looked me DEEP in the eyes and I fell in love immediately.

She'll be TEN this year, is chubby, very spoiled and happy and yes, she is the bossa me!

She watches over me like my guardian angel, or bodyguard. Cats are so cool.

  • what happen with the kittensa? are they adopted yet or did you kept them?

  • Oh yes, don't worry. We don't have any rashes and it's been a good 4 weeks or so. My dog is MUCH better. Luckily she didn't have to get the rotten egg smelly thing. We have also told the adopters about it. I think I am going to see her next weekend.
