Dont sweat it. Papi it seems told the story of other convicts and made them his own. The whole book is akin to historical ficiton.

I can't begin to explain how ridiculous it was in the book when he left his two pregnant wives in that tribe. I just couldn't forgive the author after that. It was hard for me to feel pity for his 7 years in the penal system, HALF of those in SOLITARY confinement. He even told them that he was planning on coming back and never even tried after getting liberated. You don't just leave two beautiful pregnant young women who are your wives.
