AMAZING , AMAZING ,AMAZING to see and hear these two scientest so acurately prodic our future and how thirty years later the majortity of americans seem completely clueless , to whats about to happen to us.
The Reagan Administration. There was no room for someone with his views on the Hill. His career would have been over. He was a man of ambition. With the crunch so distant, he took the money. Why sacrifice today for tomorrow?
Thanks for posting this. I especially appreciate the little piece of animation which I'd never seen. The idea is precisely the same as I used in my video "How Will You Ride the Slide?" but with a bit more detail. The tragedy is: the message is the same, now and thirty years ago.
It was in 1979 that Jimmy Carter gave his MEOW speech (Moral Equivalent of War); it was during his time that solar panels went up on the White House, etc. The next resident ripped off the solar panels and basically led the US away from the MEOW.
this is cool. where did you find this video? who else is in it?

Interesting. Yergin says we peaked in 1970 at 11.3 million barrels per day. I heard it was only 10.5 million. But I'll take Yergin's word for it.

This is a great quote that I gleaned from the video just now. Feel free to pass this one on, guys:
"We're very very vulnerable and we're very very dependent. So therefore it is URGENT that we NOW get going on a replacement."
--M. King Hubbert speaking in 1979 about America's oil dependency and her need to develop alternative fuels.
