BEFORE YOU DECIDE ...
THE ORIGINAL IS ON MY CHANNNEL TOO BUT READ ON..
If you dont know McAlmont and Butler watch a couple of my other videos

See the video sub titles for full details but when I first heard the new Duffy track .. Distant Dreamer it reminded me of McAlmont and Butler songs , not quite so strange when her Song Writer , Producer , guitarist and all round musical guru is Bernard Butler .

I wondered what this would have sounded like if it had been written for McAlmont instead who is also an amazing singer who just sounded so right with Butlers "wall of sound" type of production and sixties style of songwriting.

So... I removed the middle mix and dropped it down 3 semitones and a little more , cleaned up the remaining backing track as best as I could then dropped that down the same amount keeping as much as possible without distorting too much the tempo and beat.

I had to add a bit of flanging to keep from getting too scratchy but when I reinserted the altered vocal the results were spooky , it could almost be Mc Almont himself .

Just a bit of fun hope you enjoyed it I had a lot of fun messing with it , its a great song as always from Bernard Butler and Duffy
Please check out my other McAlmont and Butler videos theres some great stuff espec The Johnathon Ross live where Bernard matches McAlmonts "over the top" vocals like for like with his impromptu guitar work at the end , its a real classic performance.

The Graham Norton live version of Falling is also worth a look if you liked the Bring it Back album sure to appeal to anyone that hasnt checked out other songs from Duffy's songwriting partner

  • That's so cool. Sounds like an authentic 60s style song, production and all. You you should send it into radio stations and claim Duffy ripped the song off from an older song!

Think you'd do this with any other songs/artists? I'd love to hear a Duffy-fied version of Yes.

  • I,ve tried Yes and its not quite there yet but will keep on it when I get chance .

  • this guy has a fantastic voice, why hasn't he been propelled to a wider market ? makes Duffy's version sound - well sound what it is basically, nowhere near as good

  • LOL - this is duffy

Please read the info on the video it is Duffy McAlmont has never covered this song it is an audio manipulation

  • This is awesome

  • CAN NO ONE READ?!?!?!

  • Simply stunning voice. Should be a mega star! Duffy kills this and every song she does with her sharp nasal shrieks. She is crap, and mac brilliant. Such a smooth effortless voice.

  • WOW, that is some voice, brilliant. This should have been a huge hit for him. I agree totally with smudge36. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

  • Good job with the manipulation. Now, I'm off to check out the other M & B videos.
