HOMENAJE Y LIBERTAD PARA LOS CINCO HEROES CUBANOS!

FREEDOM FOR THE CUBAN FIVE IMPRISONED IN THE UNITED STATES!
Ten years from the moment, Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero y Fernando Gonzalez, five Cuban citizens, remain incarcerated in the United States. Over them, extended condemnations that result in 4 life imprisonments plus 77 years, the result of a partial trial, celebrated in Miami City. These Cuban Five, were helping to watch over terrorist plans organized against Cuba from Florida by extreme right Cuban Groups.
The Group of Work of the United Nations over Arbitrary Detentions, based in the facts and circumstances under which the trial took place, the nature of the charges and the severity of the sentences, declared arbitrary their detention and urged the United States Government to take the necessary measures to rectify that extreme decision.
In the year 2005, a three judge panel, in charge of examining the case by the Court of Appeals of Atlanta, agreed unanimously to revoke their condemnations considering that this five men did not have a fair trial in Miami and ordered a new one. Afterwards, in a split vote, the Court dismissed that decision.
Since the year 2001, the case is still going through the appeal process.
The Five have remained in isolation in maximum security prisons, under ruthless conditions of seclusion, in violation of their human rights and of the very laws of the United States. Two of them have been deprived of the right to be visited by their wives.
We join our voices to all those in the world that call for the immediate end to this enormous injustice. We must not give up on this endeavor until truth prevails and these men return to their homeland and to their families.

LIBERTAD PARA LOS CINCO CUBANOS PRESOS EN ESTADOS UNIDOS!
Desde hace diez años, Gerardo Hernández, René González, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero y Fernando González, cinco ciudadanos cubanos, permanecen encarcelados en los Estados Unidos. Sobre ellos pesan extensas condenas que suman 4 cadenas perpetuas más 77 años, resultado de un juicio parcializado, celebrado en la ciudad de Miami. Los Cinco ayudaban a monitorear planes terroristas organizados contra Cuba desde la Florida por grupos cubanos de ultraderecha.
El Grupo de Trabajo de Naciones Unidas sobre Detenciones Arbitrarias, basado en los hechos y las circunstancias bajo las cuales se llevó a cabo el juicio, la naturaleza de los cargos y la severidad de las sentencias, declaró arbitraria su detención e instó al gobierno de Estados Unidos a tomar las medidas necesarias para rectificar esa arbitrariedad.
En el 2005 el Panel de tres jueces, encargado de examinar el caso por la Corte de Apelaciones de Atlanta, acordó por unanimidad revocar sus condenas al considerar que estos cinco hombres no tuvieron un juicio justo en Miami y ordenó un nuevo juicio. Con posterioridad, el pleno de la Corte, en votación dividida revocó esa decisión.
Desde el año 2001 su caso se mantiene en apelación.
Los Cinco han permanecido en 5 diferentes prisiones de Estados Unidos, bajo crueles condiciones de reclusión, en violación de sus derechos humanos y de las propias leyes estadounidenses. A dos de ellos se les ha privado del derecho a recibir visitas de sus esposas, incorporando un castigo adicional a sus injustas condenas.
Sumamos nuestras voces a todas las que en el mundo reclaman el cese inmediato de esta enorme injusticia. Seguiremos exigiendo su libertad hasta que la verdad se abra paso y estos hombres retornen a su país y a sus familias.
