PozzBox,

From the review: "The Netgear ReadyNAS Pro is their latest entry into the Network Attached Storage world."

NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE

Therefore, you might guess that is has something to do with storage that is attached to your network.

Netgear is way overpriced, everyone knows that. Especially when buying the business editions that come with harddrives. It's rediculous. Many companies are switching to Thecus or QNAP because of this; the high-end NAS models of these brands are lightning fast as well but don't make you broke!

Btw, are you sponsored by Netgear?

shandler24k,

Thanks for your passionate comment. It is very much appreciated. However, I think it's clear that not EVERYBODY believes that Netgear is overpriced, as they continue to hold a huge chunk of the market. If you scroll through our episodes you'll see that we've reviewed three QNAP and four ReadyNAS boxes. We liked the QNAP, but I wouldn't recommend it for SMB use. (Thecus didn't want to play with us.)

Comparatively, RN was just better prepared to prime time.

BTW... we are NOT monetarily sponsored by Netgear. We DO use a lot of Netgear equipment for storage. (Another point... I can actually edit HD footage in real-time over the network... can't do that with our QNAP).

Well. Qnap only has 1 year warrenty. Netgear 5 years. Some retailers sell extra warrenty on the Qnap's then they are just as expensive as the Netgear.

Really excellent review. Have you had a chance to review the Drobo Pro and compare it to the the ReadyNas Pro Business?
