Iris and a Hurdy Gurdy

I did not get any footage of Iris at the festival. She got in trouble with the park rangers and I was told to keep her locked up. I wish I had footage of the rangers chasing her around the park. they were unable to catch her. I made this video after we got back.

Ever heard of the 80's rock band The Hooters? They play Hurdy Gurdy on their music. But Iris seem was not interested on your play Captain!

I have heard of the hooters, but I did not know they had a hurdy gurdy. It was the group Garmarna from sweden that I heard the hurdy gurdy for the first time.

That was fascinating! I've never seen anyone play that except Jimmy Page! lol Iris didn't seem to mind it much. Is there anything that she DOESN'T like?! She's so mellow about everything. Thank so much for sharing (even though I wish I could have seen the rangers chase Iris too!) lol I bet it was a riot. How long have you played the hurdy gurdy? ;-)

Haha just kidding. I put money down on this instrument in the fall of 2002. 3 and 1/2 years later it was finished. Long waiting list. I sent them the wood that was used for the keys and the crank handle. This hurdy gurdy was custom built for me.

Spring 2006 to december 2006 I played it alot. Then let it set aside. I am pursuing it once more. Properly played it is an incredible instrument.

I never thought there would be an instrument worse than an out-of-tune bagpipe. I was wrong. Sounds as bad as me when I was learning to play the violin.

I've always wondered what a hurdy gurdy was! It's quite beautiful. I'm pretty sure I've heard it often but just never knew what it was I was hearing.

Love the way Iris was just staring at you with interest! What a good audience. :D Too bad kitties can't applaud. (And if they did, what would it sound like?)
