Some people think that they have found an inconsistency with Ron Paul and that he really has contributed to our national debt. People like this just do not understand how earmarks work. Ron Paul takes a list, from the people of his state, to present earmarks with the desire that some of the money, that is heading out of the state to Washington, would be returned to his state. Ron Paul is required to present this list on behalf of the people of his state regardless if he agrees with what is in it or not, this is part of his job description, "representative of the people" however, he has never personally voted on any of these earmarks.
