Individual rights should not be put to a vote. Often times democracy becomes two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for supper. This is a Republic with a constitution, not a democracy. Therefore certain rights are guaranteed to others, whether the majority likes it or not. If you look at history, you quickly find out that the so called majority is often stupid, and almost always wrong on any given issue at hand. Why should religious extremists decide human rights issues anyway?
