In either case, because he never showcases this, how are we supposed to believe he can do something like that? At least with mario's case, he has actually proven what he can do, rather than saying he can do something, and then never doing it at all. Hell. Even shadow as a character, is better in that aspect.

@TranceCore3 We've never actually seen Sonic at his max speed or him getting to a speed and then actually struggling to go any faster so we don't know that he can't.
Lots of characters can canonically do things that they never bother to do in games. Games are just weird like that.
