After 12 hours of fasting and 6 hours of subsequent refeeding with high quality food, a worm becomes quiescent because of satiety. At the end of the movie, when the worm wakes up, it resumes normal behavior, moving and feeding. Feeding is visible by the motion of the grinder in the pharynx.
