Arya in sanskrit means a refined and cultured person who is deemed noble because of his deeds. It has no connotation w.r.t color. I have no issues with you calling yourself white or noble or royalty or whatever just don't use the term arya to describe yourself. People who have no idea about vedic culture or the sanskrit language go around calling themselves aryans because of their skin colour and eyes. Arya has nothing to do with skin color.

@mountaidew The whole point is this. It is not important what you call yourself. Only those who are adhering to the cultural values of the arya are entitled to claim them as their ancestors. Because being arya means your way of life, your values,your rituals. It does not mean physical appearance. I do not subscribe to this theory for the simple reason that the vedas are completely located in the vicinity of the Indian sub-continent and anybody who claims to be Arya must follow the Arya ways.

@shailesharya1 Aryan is not race, it is just a word in vedas given to describe a strong, noble, brilliant person. In gurukul or ashram system, all the teachers are refered as Arya irrespective of their past or where they migrated from...You can find so many references like this in vedas...
