The hate motive is part of his stage persona he uses as a tool to parody reality. If you think comedians like George Carlin, Stephen Wright and Richard Pryor are like that in everyday life you're a moron.
There's also nothing to objectively make anything "vulgar" other than a person's personal prejudice. Words are just an expression of thoughts, and legitimately hold no weight but the thought/intent behind them.
