The Cheshire Cat looks a lot like Dizzy Gillespie from the Bebop days--the goatee, I think the headgear, and even the facial expression. Also the mood. And Sammy Davis's voice reminds me of Diz too. What a pleasure to see this on the Web!!!

Alice in Wonderland has never been one of my favorite stories, but I remember this one when I was little. I loved it and I, too had the record. I also had a HB version of Bambi on a record Mrs. Flintstone told that version. I loved the songs in this version and Alice falling through the TV set with Fluff. I did a web search and found a VHS of this with very low quality for 5 dollars. I bought it, never the less. It's of course, not a video with a copyright if you get my drift.I'm from Selma,AL

I just went to see the new movie yesterday, it was very, very good. I just wish this one was available on video to buy. I remember seeing it last around 1970.

Hmmmm. Okay. I'll give it a shot.
Where would we be able to watch this special in its entirety?

I loved this. I used to listen to the record all the time. It got scratched, and I surely didn't care. I still think about it from time to time. Wish is was available on DVD.

This must have been quite a special.
ABC held onto it from 1966 through
the 80s and re-aired it from time to time.

I have the album of this...found it in a second hand record store. Wild!!!

I thought the beatniks were out of the fifties. Maynard G Krebbs was the most famous on the telly. This was made before the hippies came into fashion though.

"....the potato chips are soggy, they water the beer."
Holy stinkin' cow. I remember walking home from grammar school with my friends doing our best to sing this song.
In one version, the Cheshire Cat is voiced by Scatman Crothers.

When Hanna-Barbera Records put out the soundtrack album of the special, Sammy Davis Jr. was under exclusive contract to Reprise Records, so he was replaced on the album by Scatman Crothers doing the voice of the Cheshire Cat.
