I bought ANOTHER Mustang. This one is a 97 3.8l V6 5-Speed 119k. Was supposed to be a driver, but I'm getting into it more then I wanted. Runs great at idle.
I would suggest pouring Lucas oil stabilizer to see if it helps fix your problem without getting into the engine. When my 1994 3.2L SHO started doing this, it didn't take long before the motor died for good. I just didn't put the lucas oil in time.

The only reason i dont think its a collapsed lifter is that you would hear it at idle too, kinda like a ticking

Sorry about your bad luck man, hopefully it's just a lifter and not worn rings or something serious. Good luck man.

Does it go away when the engine heats up or become less apparent? If so possible piston slap due to worn wrist pin or excessively scored cyl walls.
