The demands of todays fast-paced society undoubtedly make one of the most important purposes of education is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that are imperative and necessary for their future success in the workplace.

Unfortunately, a disconnect sometimes exists between the learning achieved in school and the application of that learning to real-life situations beyond the walls of the classroom. Any activity that helps to bridge that gap is, consequently, of great value. We believe the Youth Invention project is one such valuable activity.

Students actively engaged in the creative process of inventing are likely to become more highly motivated and, as a result, ultimately better prepared to enter the future as productive individuals who are innovative, self-sustaining, independent, adaptable, and confident. In exploring scientific concepts, students minds are challenged to solve problems, find patterns, and be innovative. The ability to innovate is a key skill that must be developed in every student, from elementary school to high school, in order to prepare him or her to meet future economic and technological challenges, regardless of the students future path.
