  • I think it's incredible that someone from the hip-hop generation has any interest in a ancient analog "sampler" at all!

  • Do you think the guy wearing the "thug life" shirt recognizes In The Court Of The Crimson King?

  • @M400fan 8 sounds per channel, so, 8x3= 24. The included tape frame comes with all the classic sounds you can think of, and you can order new frames and even have them make custom tapes.

Price: about 5300 UKP (as of a few years ago), about $8500 US. Road case is about 500 UKP, extra tape frames about 300 UKP.

  • @M400fan Just realised it's TWENTY-FOUR! WOW! Like having EIGHT M400s!!!

  • @tremspeed Fantastic! So how many sounds are there altogether then - 8? How much does one cost?

  • @M400fan there are 37 strips of tape, one for each key. the original 400s had three tracks on each strip- the switch selects a track. the 4000 has a much longer strip of tape, with room for 8 sounds on each key (per 'track'), laid out one after another. rather than simply return the tape to the beginning, as per the original trons, the 4000 uses digitally controlled servos to control which portion of the much longer tape to play from.

  • Still don't get how the M4000 has more than 3 sounds when the M400 only had three?!?

  • Mom, this is what I want for christmas

  • Mr. Smith makes it all so understandable. A born teacher if I ever saw one.

  • What a fabulous piece of equipment!
