One day at breakfast, a man's soul busts out of his eyeball. While the soul roams the earth eating everything in sight, two wild deer bathe and dress the man's catatonic body. . .

A surreal meditation on the quirky but rejuvenating nature of friendship.

I made this cartoon over about a year's worth of commuting to and from work (a daily train ride from New York to Connecticut). it's mostly after effects & hand drawn stuff, with watercolor backgrounds.

While the film is very odd, the message is extremely personal and has a lot of heart. The best friends tolerate all your quirks. No matter where your mind wanders, they'll make you whole again, whether through a communion of food, love, or both.

Thank you for watching!

  • That character reminds me of the professor out of the Powerpuffs girls.

  • I saw this at the Dallas International Film Festival last week. It was easily my favorite of the animated shorts program (which included two of this year's Oscar nominees). Great job!
