The multi-dimensional art installation mil águas presents an artistic interpretation of acoustic and visual properties of water. It highlights specific physical conditions of the hydrological cycle and their aesthetic potential, as well as commenting on the behaviour of our consumer's society towards the precious and limited resource that water has become nowadays.

The art gallery of DMAE is transformed into a dream-like light and sound environment. Translucent walls are constructed using plastic bottles, addressing the increasing presence of water bottles in everyday life, and rasing questions about recyclability, waste and the consumer society. Acoustic and visual details of the hydrological cycle (steam, condensation) are aesthetically recontexturalized and put into the center of attention. The title mil águas was chosen in reference to the proverbial 1000 branches of the Amazon river.

mil águas was specifically conceived for the Art Gallery of DMAE (Galeria de Arte do DMAE) in Porto Alegre, and produced in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Porto Alegre.
