Each October fisherman who hold a commercial California Spiney Lobster fishing permit bait their traps and return a day or two later to see what they've caught. Raise the trap; measure the lobsters and throw those whose carapace measures under 3.5" back to grow bigger for next season; re-bait the trap; position it in another location; raise the next trap...
I haven't seen any video of New England lobstermen, but this old fellow with his little boat is one of the most active in this particular hot spot. It's remarkable just how many traps he sets in my 'back yard' each season. Thanks for your interest in my video.
