  • Well I can't side with you about the serial number thing. But the requirement about the serial number to speak with sup, that's low. personally i think NetGear sucks.

    As far as the serial number, that's the way it works for many companies. And the serial is there for a reason. It's unfortunate that you tore it. You'll have to chalk that part up to "Lesson Learned."

  • Tech support agents ask for a serial number so as to log a case. The serial number identifies month/ year of manufacture, batch, and version of unit. But I do accept the frustration voiced, and he should have got more assistance. I work for Netgear support in Europe.

  • if a cust omer need s a support from a technical support there some basic informations were we get from the customers to help them ... without serial number nothing can be done ... the mistake was on the customer side .....

    (and if u flip ur router u can find the serial number which is marked as s/n
