So, here's a medley of some of the greatest film scores to hit the big screen in the past few decades.

First of all (if you haven't noticed already) is Titanic. So here's the thing. Whether you love the movie, hate the movie (but secretly love it), or actually hate the movie (whats wrong with you? This movie was directed by the same guy who wrote/directed Terminators 1 and 2 plus Aliens and True Lies, so there's really no need to feel so immasculated. Just admit that you thought it was decent okay?), you have to admit that the music in of itself is brilliant. Yes even that song that Celine sang. But don't worry, like you, as of 1998 I've still been trying to get that damn thing out of my head. So, instead I present you with a medley in of itself from the movie, which includes no music that is remotely Celine related. It includes portions of Southhamptom, Leaving Port, and Take Her to Sea, Mr. Murdoch, all composed by James Horner.

Second is Jurassic Park. I could go on and on about how this score is brilliant and John Williams is the bomb and everything, but I've done that in other medleys, so...well just enjoy it!

Third is the theme to The Mission, specifically a melody called Gabriel's Oboe, by Ennio Morricone. Honestly, I've never actually seen this movie, but it stars Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons, so I'll just assume it's really good. The music in of itself should make the movie worth seeing (If I subscribed to Netflix, it would definitely be next in my queue).

Fourth is the theme to Speed by Mark Mancina. This movie was awesome, and a huge reason for said awesomeness is the music. And the beheading of Dennis Hopper. But mainly the music.

Fifth is another medley within a medley with music from the movie March of the Penguins. I figured I'd play it in honor of Earth day, which was just this past week. Sure I could have thrown away "less garbage" or "recycled something," but I chose to do this instead. Anyway, the movie is great, and the music is even better. Alex Wurman is a genius - I could listen to this album all day every day. If you don't already have it, do yourself a huge favor and pick it up! The medley includes portions of The Harshest Place on Earth, First Steps, The March, and Reunited.

There you have it...if you're still reading this, well then you've probably heard the entire medley by now. I hope you enjoyed it!

  • OK, just because you can play the piano well, it's not always better to let your own style completely take over.. sometimes you play a little too fast and the soul of the song just isn't there.. it's sort of like you know it a tune so well you can play it ten times more quickly than you should, (I know I do the same when I practice and just want to get to the next piece)
