Sometimes a view external to a situation is the one that has any clarity and lacks bias. It is ridiculous to say you can't comment on the politics of a country because you don't live there. It is inward thinking, conservative ideas like that which drag Britain down.

How can anyone support Thatcher when she openly defends Pinochet and called him a friend? That man was responsible for the murder and torture of thousands of Chileans. When visitng London in 1998 Pinochet was arrested for Human rights violations and Thatcher fought for his release. When he died she said that she was 'greatly saddened'. These facts alone demonstrate what a disgusting individual she is.

Relative to other western nations it didnt. During the 60s British industry declined and growth was slow. Yes there were external factors in the 70s, But Labs policies made things worse, the only way to fix the probs was Thatcherism. What would U have had done? Left things as they were? That was tried and didnt work.
