Notes by Charles Rosen:Rachmaninoff's arrangement of Kreisler's Liebesleid ("Love's Sorrow") is a tribute to his friend. The simple rendering of Kreisler's music at the beginning gives way to a typical Rachmaninoff cadenza in the middle.

Any arrangement by Rachmaninov needs it's own grading system so pianists like me can stop wasting their time and money.

The pianist goes in way too strong. Better off listening to Horowitz.
