the program he's used is most likely maya since from his dp i can tell he's working on a short film that is being done in maya, but let me just make this clear, but please don't get me wrong, but its not just about the tools you use, there's this misconception that its the tool that does everything and that is wrong, the principle of animation and the learning of the old school 2d animation methods are key for a good 3d animation result, read animator's survival kit, its a good start!
