ABORTION IN BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

There is much medical evidence that human life begins early in the development of a fetus. At only six to eight weeks of development it is obvious that the developing fetus is not "a blob of tissue," as pro-abortionists would like us to believe, but a remarkably developed baby boy or girl.

But medical and scientific evidence is not our ultimate source of Truth. The Word of God, the Bible, must be our source for determining the sanctity of life from the moment of conception. In fact, the very name of God points us in the direction of the sanctity of life from the time it is conceived in the womb.

(The Bible)

Let's first briefly review what the Bible says about human life in the womb.

The Bible tells us in Exodus 34 verses 5 through 7, the name of the Lord followed by the revelation of His character and nature, "Jehovah Rachum," or "God is merciful."

(Hebrew letters for "mercy" and "merciful")

The root of the Hebrew word for "merciful," rachum, and "mercy," rachamim, was the first aspect of God's character to be revealed to the prophet Moses on Mount Sinai.

(Moses)

Racham is also the root of the word in Hebrew for "womb" recham.

(Shot of womb)

The womb then, in its original Hebrew context, is the center or seat of mercy, the place from which the child, being formed in the image of God, is conceived, formed, nurtured and born.

Jesus declared in Matthew 5:7, Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. But the converse is also true. When men, for their own convenience, would send their swords into that place of life and mercy, defiling the sanctity of life within the recham - the womb- it may be necessary to consider Christ's declaration of the wages earned by those who take up the sword: Those who live by the sword, shall die by the sword (Matthew 26:52).

(Jesus teaching)

It is no coincidence that Jesus, the Messiah, would be conceived in a womb and born of a woman after a normal pregnancy.

We need look no further than the story of Jesus' conception to see that life is indeed sacred from the womb. Christ himself was both fully man and fully God from the moment of His conception.

"And the angel answered and said to her: 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God'" (Luke 1:35).

(Mary and Gabriel)

We see the sanctity of life in the womb outlined clearly in Lukes Gospel. Shortly after Christ's conception was revealed to Mary through the angel Gabriel, Luke in 1:26, tells us:

"Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leapt in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."

(Mary and Elizabeth)

In Luke 1:26, we are told that Jesus was conceived exactly six months after Elizabeth's son, John the Baptist. It was John who leapt in the womb at the greeting of Mary and the coming of the preborn Savior into the house of his father, Zechariah.

The Bible tells us that Jesus was conceived six full months after John. Jesus had to be somewhere within the first trimester of pregnancy - the time when 88 percent of the abortions in our nation are performed - when John "leapt in the womb" at the arrival of the Savior.

(Another of Mary and Elizabeth)

It is also interesting to consider that the first "Gospel message" was preached at the coming of Christ while He was still in the first trimester of development. The "Good News" was initiated by the preborn infant John proclaiming the divinity of the baby Jesus that the Savior had come into the world.

It is clear throughout the Scriptures that life begins at conception in the womb.

"For Thou didst form my inward parts. Thou didst weave me in My mother's womb. I will give thanks to Thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalms 139:13).

(Shots of inutero development)

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you were born I consecrated you (Jeremiah 1:5).

(Shots of inutero development)

... the Lord who made you and formed you in the womb ... (Isaiah 44:2).

(Shots of inutero development)

According to Scripture, abortion is a sin against God - a violation of the sixth commandment, "You shall not murder." It is the wanton killing of innocent human life in the womb - a place designed by God to be a refuge of life and mercy.

  • son of God .....hmm where is daughter of God..... no wonder why women were despised in bible..... pregnancy is a curse the bible says....bible also says the earth is flat .... what is this ...some part of the bible I should consider and some I don't ...I am not against christianity ....but the way you present the bible to be ultimate truth insults my knowledge and intelligence .... It was ingeil originally which was lost way back....now the Bible is completely corrupted beyond repair...

  • @HeavenlyJustice4All Citations? The Bible does not say pregnancy is a curse and the earth is flat.

  • See this is what i cannot stand. Empirical evidence based medicine cannot be regarded, but unfounded absolute beliefs should be seen as absolute. What a load of shit.

  • The exact opposite of what we say in the video. It is obvious form a medical perspective that life begins very early in the womb. A fully formed person is apparent at 6 to 8 weeks.

However, only God can tell us when the fetus becomes a human soul and only God can tell us that child killing is a capital offense.

  • I tell you truly that the baby is conceived at conception; fertilization is the start of life and is known to God as a new babe. Tampering with this life on its journey is nothing short of Murder?

  • Doesn't the Bible go on and on about Jehovah commanding people to kill other people in his name? Didn't the Israelites kill men women children and livestock and salt the earth so nothing could live there anymore? Let's not think Christians or any other Abrahamic religion have a monopoly on righteousness.

  • @KnightOwl2006 How twisted a world is this that people have to be convinced that killing islamic babies is a bad thing. Christians are always talking peace & how killing is wrong, but these people are the first to sign up for holy wars across seas to kill muslim babies. Anyone that believes in an imaginary guy up in the sky watching over them, are completely pathological nutjobs. Religion is just another tool for prejudice & racism. Its a wolf in sheeps clothing that controls the mass sheeple.

  • how twisted a world is this that people have to be convinced that killing babies is a bad thing.

  • @ChelseaTheWitchyWmn I've never heard a Christian make a Wiccan out to be evil. I'm Christian and have known a couple Wiccans, I'm in Kansas so we're a little "old fashioned" here ;) But I've NEVER heard a person with Christ in their heart be demeaning to anyone! Your beliefs, though I don't know much about them, are about natural elements, not about Satan, Satan is who we look at to be evil. Please don't let a few be the cause of you not seeing Christ for who he is, I'm here to talk if needed

  • @HeavenlyJustice4All The Bible says the woman shall experience pain in childbirth, not that childbirth itself is a curse...childbirthing is a GIFT given to women, the only pain we can possibly experience out of which comes great joy! I will tell you, I have three children and hardly remember the pain I went through to have them. What sticks out in my memory is seeing their faces, their eyes for the first time!

  • @jcr4runner “A fertilized embryo is not a human - it needs a uterus, and at least six months of gestation and development, growth and neuron formation, and cell duplication to become a human. To give an embryo created for biomedical research the same status even as one created for in vitro fertilization (IVF), let alone one created naturally, is patently absurd.” -Michael S. Gazzaniga, Ph.D.

  • Lesbo-feminism has a hidden agenda! The damaged, demented and naive women who adhere to its precepts often portray themselves as atheists. Yet, they are involved in a marxist movement which stealthily venerates demons such as molok. Similarly, are not wars and genocides sacrifices to demonic/satanic entities? For ex., George Solomon, a NKVD defector, wrote in his book in the 1930s that Lenin told him that the Red Terror was in fact a mass sacrifice to molok.

  • Well they're all going to hell anyway.
