  • This was my Dad's favorite song.We used to listen to it with him all the time.He was retired from the Navy.He was in WW II,Korean War, and The Vietnam War. We used to take pictures at port whenever we wanted.

  • Sometimes when I feel a bit low I play this song, it works great, soon I'm out of my funk. Thanks boys...

  • @iplaywow1123 ..."The Sloop John B " was a two masted sail boat of the kind that used to trade between the Tropic Island's ,Atlantic or Pacific .

....Sloop's were seaworthy and sailed well .

....Thier trip's were long and hard .In this case a young crew member has had enough .He's month's away from home .

....This song has nothing to do with conflict ,just homesick .

  • I got to hand it to you brits you should be very proud of your self for putting up a hell of a fight with those Bloody Jerrys. Peace to you and your country.

  • whats this song about? pls reply. im only 10 so i would like to know

  • @pogmathon100 Sir.. I salute you!

  • @Iraqmajor What a stupid cooment. My country fought on in Europe when all others deserted us. Where were the bloody yanks in 1940? Had it not been for us it is quite clear that all others would have succumed. We didnt just have our backs to the wall... we stood no chance...but we bloody well didnt give in. London was the first city in the world to stand up to blitzkieg. We were prepared to see everything destroyed. Everything. This was our 'finest hour'.

  • Great song!!

(If I'm not mistaken one of the first pictures was the USS Constitution?)

    Go Navy!
