who is the instructor here? and where?
-
im 18 years shotokan and i was always taught 1st Dan were just beginners-not mastery of anything. I try to judge people on actually how many times they show up a week to train, not their techniques.

I wonder how the students managed to acquire the black belt... Remember, 1st Dan means mastership and not beginner. The do not engage any good Kiai and do not seem to focus their power into the hit phase.

this is good drills for the okinawan way, most excellent, an as for the student not putting forth effort that will come in time. very good sensei ush!!!!!!
-
these techniques are powerful but it looks like many karate practitioners sacrifice face and mouth for power. why leave the face open like that?

DJ is not pivoting on the back leg for Mae-ashi Mawashi geri, he will twist his knee and the knee will become swollen,..........just because you weight so much more than your friends it does not kean you should do half techniques......

This is technical training. From this type of work, one can learn timing, technique, range, and depending on the intensity, endurance. This particular clip wasn't so intense, of course.Putting on the pads and banging away yields nothing without first mastering the basics.
I fail to see how it could breed false confidence unless they were severely neglecting contact drills. Remember this is only one drill, and to condemn a martial art as "stupid training" from one aspect seems kinda narrow minded
