"Méra Magioú" (un jour de Mai / A day in May), Mikis Theodorakis/Yannis Ritsos, 11/1985.

Athens Experimental Ocherstra / Stavros Xarhakos.

Deutsche Grammophon Recording / Enregistrement Deutsche Grammophon.
-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------
You went away on a day of May, my son; I lost you in the spring which you loved so much.
You went up on to the terrace and greedily drank the cosmical light with you eyes.
You told me about the great world in your sweet manly voice, and you promised me that one day it would belong to both of us.
But now you have been extinguished, and my light has extinguished too.

  • WONDROUS!!!!

  • Just one word but it says it all. From the clips you have posted I understand you are from greek origin? So this song certainly has a lot of meaning for you! You might be interested in another song (always by this great singer) I have posted today.

  • lovely as this is, i hope you might consider posting Ta Trena Pou Figan from the same cd (which i haven't got).thank you.

  • Excellent suggestion... I have posted the song you mention. I guess this was released on CD but this is from the original good old LP :)

  • i love greek songs and i got this CD long time ago. i hope any my dear friend can introduce some beautiful greek songs or great singers.

    thanks alot.

  • Superb !

  • Can anyone help me? I'm trying to find the sheet music for this and a few other songs on this CD. Does anyone know where I could get a copy???
