its not gettin enough fuel, its too lean at idle. Have a look at the throttle linkage, it should keep opening and shutting at idle, should only do it when its under load
-
how much did the new carb cost, i think i may need a new one for mine
-
@richmistar250 i have the same exact engine, they are not 2 stroke
-
@Spartan117JMC No, this is a vertical shaft engine, this is the way it sits. Not a whole lot of tractors today have engiens that are upright, in fact back in the 60's the cylinder was upside down!

Vacuum leaks are common with these carbs. The old opposed twin setups were much better.
-
It's a 21hp Intek V-twin. It's definitely not 2-stroke. Besides, it's almost impossible to find a 2-stroke in this configuration.

@dragata1 no its lean

So when you throttle it up does it give you a good amount of performance or does it bog?...if so you have a problem with your points + condensers and possibly only one thing wrong somewhere in your entire ignition system, check these if it has them: Points, Condensers, Magnetos, Timing, ignition cables, and last but not least spark plugs, you should be able to fix it with checking with those! and that looks like a 2 stroke so..point .020 should be your points spacing

its getting to much gas to it thats why its back fireing
This problem was fixed with a new carb. I have been thru the old carb several times and It is spotless . To this day i can't figure out what is wrong with that old carb. It is really odd the way the motor runs with that old carb. That carb had 176 hours on it and was used regularly.
